The Was is an ancient Egyptian symbol depicting a staff made from a dried bull's penis that was the symbol of power and dominion. The scepters, which were often actually made of wood, had a the head and forked tail of an unidentified animal, possibly related to Seth (who has the head of a similar unidentified animal).
