There are different types of spells that last for different durations. Jar spells, knot spells, freezer spells are all spells that are supposed to last for as long as the spell objects are contained, knotted or frozen. In that case, indefinitely. BUT when you cast a spell (and the previously mentioned are not exempt) you are putting certain energy into an object or out in the universe in a particular direction. If you imagine that energy as heat, for the sake of this discussion, think about a pot of water. The water starts out at room temperature, likewise, without your magical intervention a situation starts out at a certain point. You can add heat to the pot to increase the heat of the water and as long as you are adding heat, the water's heat will increase until the point that the water and the heat source are at similar temperatures, it can't get any hotter than that. Once the heat is removed, the temperature of the water will gradually return to room temperature, or normalize. You can insulate the pot, put a lid on it, wrap it in towels, etc. and this will slow down the return to room temperature, but it won't stop it completely (this is my metaphor for container spells, knot spells, freezer spells that are meant to last indefinitely)
When you cast a spell, you are putting energy into a situation. The addition of your energy changes the existing energy to a certain extent and the more you work at it, the more the change happens and once you stop, the energy will gradually return to its normal state. But, if you did it right, the normal state won't be exactly the same anymore because you will have put energy into something that had a permanent effect. For example, you can cast a spell for money and get money, spend it and be broke again in a month, or you can cast a spell for your dream job and spend the rest of your life getting money to do something you love. Really clever magic creates opportunities; the opportunity to get a job, the opportunity for the body's tired immune system to rally, the opportunity to convince the guy you've got your eye on that he should be looking at you too, the opportunity to conceive. But each of these requires mundane action to be taken at the right time to turn that opportunity into reality. (If you don't drop your egg into that water at the right time, it's not going to get cooked- to return to a tired metaphor)
Returning to the "indefinite" spells, these are designed to contain the energy of your intention for a long period of time. They're like batteries. But even these need a re-charge once in awhile. Many Witches re-do these on an annual or seasonal basis.
So it means once you do a spell and it goes everything will rebounce to the old sitiuation? Can't I take the spell as an opportunity to fix everything for example between me and someone so once the spell is out there is no need to re do it again??
No, because life isn't static. It's always in motion. Your situation isn't going to go back exactly to where it was because things around it change. All you're changing with a spell is the energy surrounding the situation, people's attitudes, what feels important. People take different actions and make different decisions based on those attitudes and those have lasting effects.
Whatever decisions were made, whatever actions took place under the influence of that energy still took place and whatever the results of those decisions and actions are will still be what results. If you're trying to do a spell to make someone who is angry at you feel less angry, you have to use that time to chat them up, do some favors, show them what a good friend you are so that when everything normalizes they will have those memories of you being good to them to help them get over the anger quickly. And even if you don't use that time productively, it's possible that a few days of forgetting to be angry will be enough to neutralize the anger and give them time to think about the value of the relationship without the fog of anger surrounding it.
A spell doesn't really change things, it creates an energetic environment where the changes that need to happen to create your intention are more likely happen. It gets a ball rolling in the right direction, sets off a chain reaction toward your goal. Sometimes it takes years for everything to fall into place. Sometimes it's quick.
I want to cast a spell, I'm Muslim and I've told that it's not allowed. Though I am not going to harm anyone but they told me that work done by spirits is forbidden. Suggestions?
If you're Muslim, and you think magick is wrong, you shouldn't do it. If you know in your heart of hearts that it isn't wrong and you truly believe in Islam then you need to pray and meditate and ask your God to show you the way to a magical system that is acceptable in his eyes. They don't all utilize spirits. Ironically, perhaps, the Abrahamic systems almost all do.
