How can I protect my energy from unintentionally being drained by a loved one?
My husband has recently been dealing with some health issues that interfere with him actively living life. He spends most of his time in our bed anymore. I know he hates it and it has slowly been pulling him into a depression. I have found myself falling into that dreadful dark hole. And my friend told me that my aura is now black. She's afraid he is draining my life force and suggested that I use a blocking spell to protect myself. The thing is I know that he isn't doing this on purpose and I love that close connection we have. Is it possible to protect myself from this while maintaining and protecting our bond? I appreciate any help.

Absolutely. There are shielding spells that are basic to most practices that involve visualizing a protective light around yourself that blocks anything harmful. They vary by tradition and there are other methods as well, but before doing that, I recommend a doing some cleansing. You can do a cleansing ritual bath or an egg cleanse or use fumigation or whatever is suitable to your tradition and situation. There is no point in shielding already mucky stuff. Clear it out, then shield it. Repeat as needed. Certain stones like Peridot and carnelian can also help. Begining and/or ending your day with some sort of grounding and centering ritual or meditation can also help.
While I doubt your aura is literally black, when there is stress and illness in the household, it is common that your own energy suffer and it's common for people who are physically weak to draw energy from others as a survival mechanism, it's not a conscious thing, it's like a reflex. But as long as you are recharging regularly, you should be able to share a little, just maintain your boundaries and don't share enough to cause yourself to feel weakened. Take some time to make sure you are giving yourself what you need to be strong and feel good and don't be afraid to ask for physical help if you need it.
