Moon Garden
A moon garden is a garden that is designed to be best enjoyed under the moonlight. To this end, plants are selected that either bloom at night or just look particularly striking under moonlight or that are particularly fragrant at night. Many witches enjoy designing a moon garden either in honor of the moon Goddess or to give their nocturnal rituals a particularly magical ambiance or simply because they like to enjoy their garden at night.
- Plants for the moon garden may include plants with silvery foliage like the artemisias, wormwood, mugwort and silver mound or silver king Artemesia, and dusty miller. Furry plants like lamb's ear, wooly thyme, borage, and mullein can also have a silvery glow in the moonlight, especially when they are glistening with dew. Many other plants come in varieties with verigated leaves which can also be considered. Pineapple sage, lamium and verigated hostas are also worth consideration.
- Plants with white blossoms, like snowdrop, star magnolia, yarrow, foamflower, alyssum, snow in summer, foxglove, false dragonhead and white variations of rose, daffodil, tulip, phlox, etc.
- Plants that bloom at night: evening primrose, moonflower, angel's trumpet, night-scented orchid, Nottingham catchfly, chocolate flower (berlandiera lyrata), tropical night-blooming water lily, night jessamine, four o'clock.
- Plants that are particularly fragrant at night include those that bloom at night and nicotiana, ,
- And Plants that attract nighttime pollinators- all night-blooming flowers are specialized to attract nighttime pollinators. Also consider, honeysuckle and lavender
- Of course, any plant whose energy corresponds to that of the moon would also be suitable.
